LIFE PATH

Born in Connecticut, USA, I discovered art therapy at the age of 16, when I first realized that traditional talk-therapy didn't always connect with my core being or allow me to express my emotions. Since then, art has been a vital part of my journey through addiction, trauma, social activism, body image work, anxiety, financial stress, and everything else life has thrown at me. These experiences deepened my empathy and compassion for others, and motivated me to become an art therapist. In 2013 I moved to the UK and have continued my art journey here, settling in my current space in Nottinghamshire in 2017.

APPROACH & CREDENTIALS

I approach my art therapy practice from a trauma-informed lens, working in a person-centred way that values all of who you are. My art therapy practice is a safe space for everyone. I spend time with my clients learning to attune to their rythm, needs, and voice, building a strong relationship to their artist-selves. As an integrative art therapist, I am supported by a variety of frameworks including Internal Family Systems and Humanistic approaches.

I graduated from the University of Connecticut with an honours degree in Psychology, and subsequently received a distinction award when graduating with my Masters of Art Therapy from the University of Derby. Over the last 20 years I have attended and facilitated art therapy classes, workshops, conferences, and seminars with a concentration on trauma, addiction, personality disorders, identity, and relationships. I am a published author and researcher.

WALKING IN TWO WORLDS

Calling in spirit, archetype, resource, and wisdom from the collective unconscious is a cornerstone of my identity as a therapist.  In my practice, I invite the knowing that comes through dreams, symbols, and archetypal imagery. These experiences often carry meaning that reaches beyond the everyday, offering perspective and guidance for the journey of healing. Through art, intuition, and gentle exploration, we can access these non-ordinary ways of knowing in a safe and grounded way. Together, we listen for the insights that arise when the personal and the universal meet.

SPECIALTY FOCUS

My primary speciality is in trauma work, with a focus on sexual abuse and domestic violence. I walk alongside survivors, offering art as a gentle language for what words cannot hold, restoring safety, voice, and the possibility of wholeness. In the quietness of the studio, art becomes a safe container for transforming pain into colour, form, and new stories of resilience

I have a secondary focus of work with grief. We grieve personal losses, but also what we longed for and never received. We grieve the sorrows carried by our ancestors, the suffering in the wider world, and the deep ache of separation from the earth. Art offers a tender space to hold sorrow, honour memory, and gently invite renewal.

While my specialties are in trauma and grief, I welcome anyone seeking support through life’s many seasons and challenges, knowing that healing takes many forms.
